Empowering Young Girls: Samriddhi Foundation Nepal Leads Menstrual Health Awareness in Biratnagar

14th December 2025, Biratnagar, Nepal Samriddhi Foundation Nepal, under the banner of “S.H.E. is Success,” recently organized an interactive Menstrual Health Awareness Program for teenage girl students at M.M.V. School, Biratnagar, with the aim of promoting accurate knowledge, building confidence and encouraging healthy and hygienic menstrual practices among adolescents.

The program was conducted for students from Grades 7, 8, 9, and 10, a crucial age group where correct information and open discussion are essential. The primary motive of the interaction was to raise awareness among young girls about clean and hygienic menstrual practices, break myths and stigma surrounding menstruation and encourage them to view menstruation as a natural and healthy biological process.

During the session, students were informed about the importance of personal hygiene during menstruation, safe use and disposal of sanitary products, maintaining cleanliness, proper nutrition and the need for regular health check-ups. The program also emphasized building self-confidence, encouraging girls to speak openly about menstrual challenges and understanding their own bodies without fear or shame.

A well-trained nurse from the school actively participated in the program and provided detailed explanations on why menstrual health and hygiene are vital for overall physical and reproductive health. She highlighted how neglecting proper menstrual hygiene can lead to infections, long-term health complications and discomfort, stressing that awareness and preventive care can protect girls from serious health risks.

The interaction-based approach allowed students to ask questions freely, share their concerns and gain clarity in a safe and supportive environment. The session was warmly received by both students and teachers, who appreciated the initiative for addressing an often-overlooked but critical aspect of adolescent health.

Through such programs, Samriddhi Foundation Nepal continues its commitment to empowering young girls with knowledge, dignity and confidence, ensuring that menstrual health is understood not as a taboo, but as an essential part of a healthy and empowered life.
